Alternatives:
KnitPicks Wool of the Andes is a somewhat close match with a low cost point. At 137 yd (125 m) 2 balls will be needed. Gauge may be slightly different – swatch to be sure! $1.99 per 50 g ball. Total yarn cost: $3.98. How’s that for frugal?
Cascade 220 Sport is a closer match with a higher price point. At 164 yd (150 m) an additional hank will likely be needed. $4.75 per hank (plus postage). Total yarn cost: $9.50.
Analysis:
Provided you are willing to check the gauge, the Wool of the Andes option could bring the total cost to $7.25 (plus postage for yarn). Not bad considering similar hats cost more in the shops and are probably not going to be made out of Highland wool!
